Coeur d'Alene Elementary is a small public school in Venice, California. With approximately 500 students in grades pre-K through 5, Coeur d'Alene reflects the spirit of the Venice Community. Like Venice, the school is culturally, ethnically and economically diverse. We have been designated as a School for Advanced Studies by LAUSD, and offer enhanced programs for our students in math and science. Our principal and our parents work hard to attract donations that support an extensive arts program, physical education program, and computer technology integration, all those things that are not in the school budget. Because of this, Coeur d'Alene received two major awards in the 2007-2008 school year. In the fall of 2007 our school was honored with the Music Center's BRAVO Award for excellence in arts education, and in early 2008 was named a California Distinguished. School.

The Friends of Coeur d'Alene, or Booster Club, was formed by parents before the start of the 2002-2003 school year. All parents and guardians of students are automatically members, welcome to all meetings, can run for office, and have the power to vote on policy and expenditures. We are a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month (unless rescheduled because of holidays) from 6 to 8, in the school auditorium.

The Booster Club encompasses many groups and committees of parents working to better our school. They are involved in the beautification and safety of the school grounds, environmental awareness, a food drive, volunteering in the classrooms and PE program, as well as raising funds by organizing the fundraisers, large and small, that support, and in some cases make possible, the extras that make Coeur d'Alene a great experience for our children. Active parents make a great school.
